2009 In Review

 

SUMMARY OF CHAMBER ACTIVITIES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2009
 
The year started by reviewing the action required in the planning and objectives document set by the board for 2009. Some of the main points of the plan were to
 
·       Increase membership to 100 members
·       Increase the number of small Samoan businesses as members
·       Set the groundwork for the establishment of ASIM
·       Continue to push for the removal of the escalator clause from the minimum wage bill
 

Amend Articles

 

DIRECTORS RESOLUTION
 
RESTATED AND AMENDED ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
           
 
RESOLVED, that pursuant to a unanimous vote of members at a regular meeting of its members held on November 17, 2009, the articles of incorporation for the Chamber of Commerce of American Samoa were amended and restated as provided in Article XII of its original articles of incorporation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the amended and restated articles of incorporation shall be submitted to the American Samoa Government for approval and recording at the Office of the Territorial Registrar.

Good evening and welcome to this the 2nd Annual Business Awards Night. Special welcome to -     The Hon Governor Togiola and First Lady Maryann Tulafono Mr. Nik Pula & Mrs. Lydia Faleafine-Nomura Members of the GAO team Members of the business community ladies and gentlemen We are about to enter a very critical time in our economy as the effects of the closure of COS will start to make an impact on all of us in the business community and in the ASG. The impact is only a month away and I am sure that there are many people here who have never felt the effects of an economic downturn and what it will mean to their business and livelihood.

Summary The purpose of this report is to provide a qualitative update to the committee on the recent Manukau City Pacific Trade Delegation led by His Worship the Mayor.  A future report will outline the quantitative outcomes of the delegation as businesses are still in the process of developing or finalising work resulting from the visit.
